additions to the Retro Ranch website...
A few cosmetic changes to the site as I set up some software on my new MacBook.
Yes. Another long, long wait between updates, and I'm sorry to say that this one is a brief one.
I've removed some dead sites from the links section of the side, and have put back in the Console Passion link. For some reason I removed it, and I'm still not quite sure why, as they've been operating continually for years. Go and pay them a visit!
Thanks to the help of my fellow RLLMUK forumites, and Gary Smith of UK-VAC, the 'Out Run Locator' is making great progress.
More venues have been added to the list, whilst further details have been added to existing locations, with web site links, addresses and telephone numbers now available. Gary Smith has also passed me the serial number for his Out Run Deluxe, so that's now also online.
I've fired off a couple of emails today as well. The first went to the contact email of Sega Park UK and the second went to the press office of Sega Europe. I'm basically asking them for as much Out Run 2/Special Tours info as possible - details of venues hosting the machines, and if possible, serial numbers. I'll let you know what sort of response I get, if any!
Work has begun on the 'Out Run Locator' - an online tool intended to help all Out Run and Out Run 2 fans track down the location of their nearest machines. The section is now online, but needs your input if it's to grow. If you know of a machine and location I've missed off please get in touch.
Crikey!
It's been a year since I last updated the site.
Sorry about that. It's not from a lack of material,
more a lack of spare time.
Having returned from the second Classic Gaming
Expo in Croydon last weekend, I thought it was
about time I made some decent additions to this
ill-updated portion of the internet.
First-up, and I've now added a "Meets and
Events" section to the navigation bar. Click
on that and you'll find links to The Classic Gaming
Expo 2005 where I've not only put together a review
of the day, but have also uploaded all the photos
I took so you can have a look for yourselves.
A review and selection of pictures from the CGE
2004 will follow, but don't hold your breath.
Due to a number of PCB sales Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles and Karnov have been moved from the "My
Collection" area, and into the "Items
I've Owned" section.
The JAMMA Supergun has received a MAJOR update,
and now features a Word document containing instructions,
diagrams and photos detailing how you can build
your own Supergun. All the information has been
taken from Chad Gray's excellent, but now defunc
web site. It's only a 450-odd-K download, and
if you're keen to build a supergun then this is
well worth getting hold of.
Right. That's about it. I'll try and keep the
updates coming on a slightly more regular basis,
but no doubt other things will get in the way.
A
quick update which sorts out a few dead links,
updates the intro text on the main page, and replaces
the site counter.
I've got the bank holiday week off, so hope to
make some more additions to the site then.
The other news is that the site link has been
printed in issue 7 of Retro Gamer magazine, and
all being well, some of my collection, along with
a short interview, should be appearing in issue
23 of GamesTM magazine.
Look
at that! Almost a year between updates.
Apologies for the delay in uploading new material,
but the last year had been a hectic one, as I
moved into my own place, and have spent the time
since then making the place my own.
This update isn't anything major, but I have started
to add information for `Elevator Action Returns`
to the `My Collection` section of the site. Please
take a look.
I'll try to make sure that the site is updated
on more of a regular basis in future, but please
don't hold your breath!
It's
been a fair old while since the last site update,
so I thought I'd better get my backside in gear
and make some additions.
Today's update see's the addition of `Asteroids`
to the list of my collection. I've not added to
much to the Asteroids page yet, but there are
a few screenshots, brief background history, as
well as game play help.
Another
day and another site update. This time the `Crude
Buster` page found in the `My Collection` area
of the site has had some massive updates. Previously
this section housed only a few screenshots. Now
there are dip switch settings, brief review, list
of production crew, information about the home
version and more.
Saturday 11th
For
the first update of 2003 I've made some major additions
to the Rastan Saga section of the site, which
you can reach by clicking on the `My Collection` link
on the left hand side of the page. Additions are screenshots
of both the arcade and Sinclair Spectrum versions,
as well as a brief write-up about the home computer
versions released by Imagine.
The other update today is to the Combat School
section, which can also be found by clicking on he
`My Collection` link. Previously the section was waiting
for me to upload any information about the game. Now
you can find screen shots, background information
about the game, controls, as well as hints and tips.
I
know it's been a long time since the last site update,
and I can only apologise. I also run and maintain
a mailing list for 80's pop group Madness, as well
as the web site for the list. Over the past few months
I've been moving all that material over to a new site,
and while it's taken a bit of time to ensure the move
was a smooth as possible, it has worked very well.
What this means to you arcade collectors is that it's
now given me more space on my Demon web space for
The Retro Ranch as space was getting very low indeed.
Anyway, enough of the waffling. Todays update has
been to the Namco Classic Collection 2 page in the
`My Collection` area of the site. All arranged versions
of the games on that PCB are now online for you to
read about, along with a few screenshots. May I add
that these screenshots have been taken from another
site during my web surfing. The problem is, I can't
remember where from. So if you happen to know, please
get in touch so I can credit the person who took them
- thanks!
